VOTE FOR THE COVER

One of the most exiting moments in releasing a book has arrived - the first concepts for the cover. When asked what I wanted on the cover of The Trouble With Sauce, I said ‘a splodge of tomato sauce on a school book’ so I’m pretty impressed with how the designer has run with that. Here are the three options. You can cast your vote in the column on the right. Please also leave feedback by clicking on 'comments' just under this post. ‘I like 3 but not the font’, ‘it looks like blood’, ‘They’re all a bit....’ or whatever you think.

Vote early! Vote often!

#1, mostly because the added emphasis on "sauce" (#2) or "trouble" (#3) seems weird.

2 followed by 1.... With 1 I like the red in the centre, with 1 I like the spiral binder...

1 - I like the Spiral Binder and position of pills.

2 - do not like.

3 - I like most would be good to work the spiral binder in if possible and move the position of pill to somwhere similar to 1.

#2 is my favourite. It announces the title as a big splotch. #3 looks a bit CSI, and #1 reminds me of something else I have seen elsewhere...

I voted for #2 because it's the best!

I think it could be improved with more sauce-like drips. Perhaps fatter, slightly oranger drips (the suace splodge in #1 is more authentically saucy!)

I much prefer the title font treatment in #2 - excellent. I also really like the white on blue block treatment for the shoutline in #1 & #3 - perhaps a combo?

Much prefer the drawn pills - think the photo looks a bit too much like evidence snap of a street haul!

#2 - I like that the other subtitle/line is written on and the added graffiti/pic. Also like the sticky tape mark.
#1 - gets my second vote, think the spiral binding is cute, but thought overall less school-booky?

3 - like the font and agree with Anon that worth trying it with the spiral.
In my ignorance, I didn't realise the green things were pills!

Although the 3 have different elements, they are all on the same theme - is that what normally happens?

1 - takes me back to schooldays when I used to flick ink on mates' books

I like 2, seems pretty synonymous...

WTF I don't even know what I mean...

#2!!!

Too many meetings and it has made me retarded.

#3, it made me laugh!
I looked at #3 first, then #2 and then #1...

But I actually find them all quite similar...I will ask some young friends under 18 to comment! - Jeanne
